Children’s Sunday School

Sunday School
Birth – 5th Grade

Nursery Care Program
Sundays, 8:45 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

A baby’s birth is the beginning of a child’s faith journey. We offer loving kindness and support in our nursery care. Nursery for infants, toddlers, and 2’s is located in Classroom 129 or “C” on the lower level of our building.  You are welcome to arrive early so you aren’t rushing to worship.  This can give you the needed time to provide any special instructions to our nursery care team.

3’s & 4’s Sunday School
Sundays, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

The pre-school age is filled with activity and curiosity. Pre-schoolers want to know that we love them, but more importantly that God loves them. Sunday School for children ages 3 and 4 years is in a traditional classroom setting, which is located in Classroom 129 or “C” on the lower level.

We use the Spark Story Bible to explore the Old and New Testament stories.  Its easy to read aloud, with creative language familiar to kids, and each story includes activity suggestions or questions.  Parents can go directly to the Sunday school classroom before going to service.

Kindergarten – 5th Grade
Sundays, 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Entering school is a new beginning and so we celebrate this milestone by planting seeds of faith and by using a model involving experiential learning to teach children the Bible stories. We use the Cokesbury, “Deep Blue” curriculum as a guideline for our Sunday school teachings.  Kids love experiencing the Bible story alongside fun characters like them who are also discovering the Bible and what it means to their lives.  Videos and interactive elements engage all of the kids’ senses.  Each video segment tells a Bible story through the kids’ point of view, with help from the Deep Blue kids, Asia, Edgar, Kat, and Caleb.  Music videos and Bible story quizzes add even more fun.

We gather between 9:50 – 10:00 a.m. in the Lounge, Room 228, on the main level of the church for some bagels.  Sometimes getting the kids out of bed on Sunday morning is difficult, so we provide a light breakfast before Sunday school.  If you are running a little late, you can find us in Room 310, on the Upper Level.  We gather as one community for the Bible story, music, and share prayer and offerings.  Then we break into age-level small groups to dig deeper and apply the story to our daily lives.   Parents can pick their children up after worship on the Upper Level.  See the bulletin board on the Upper Level to find where each age group will be.

There are special services during the Sunday school year when there will be no Sunday school and we will have family worship. Children are always welcome in worship. We have children’s worship bags that have books and activities to help the children participate in worship.
