The Mission Ministry of Union Church
The Mission Ministry of Union Church supports 7 domestic mission partners and 2 international partners and seeks to encourage our congregation to share their time and talents in this broader community that we serve. We hope to provide opportunities to share our gifts and resources to meet the needs of the communities we are impacting as well as provide meaningful experiences for our congregation and build relationships with the people we serve.
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10
How we serve at home:
We offer financial support to all our mission partners and we have many opportunities to volunteer as well. Our current mission partners are:
- A Just Harvest
- The Night Ministry
- DuPage PADS
- The Boulevard
- HCS Family Services

For information on how to serve these partners sharing your time and talents see the descriptions of each mission partner and the volunteer opportunities here.
How we serve abroad:
We currently support communities in Guatemala and Angola by providing both financial resources and human capital through our mission trips to each of these countries.
Guatemala Our work in Guatemala is done through Habitat for Humanity and consists of a biannual week-long trip to a small rural town called Rabinal, where we assist in building homes for families. We have taken groups to Rabinal over the past years and have built many relationships with the people of this community along with much needed homes.

Angola The Illinois Conference of the UCC has a long time relationship with the Congregational Church in Angola (IECA). We at Union Church have a congregation-to-congregation partnership with the Peregrinos (Pilgrim) Church in Huambo. We include each other in prayer, have made visits to Angola to further our relationships there, and have hosted visitors from Angola here. We also give ongoing support to the IECA hospital in Dondi and the English Language Institute in Huambo.
We took our first group mission trip to Huambo, Angola in January 2020. Union Church members, along with Perigrinos Church members, planted trees in a deforested area, arranged for a shipment of corn to be delivered to the drought-stricken south of Angola, and built relationships with each other and within the community. This is an evolving and growing partnership!
