“A Just Harvest” Update & Call for Volunteers

A Just Harvest is the agency that Mission Ministry has chosen for the Special Offering for Easter. Union Church has been a supporter of A Just Harvest for about 30 years. The mission of A Just Harvest is to fight poverty and hunger in the Rogers Park and greater Chicago community by providing nutritious meals daily while cultivating community and economic development and organizing across racial, cultural and socio-economic lines in order to create a more just society. A Just Harvest utilizes three strategies to combat hunger and restore community: feeding hungry people; creating jobs, education and community development; and community organizing and advocacy. Union Church members purchase a nutritious meal and go to Rogers Park to cook and serve the meal with the help of the kitchen staff of A Just Harvest on the fourth Sunday of every month. Volunteers are always needed so please contact our liaison Cathy Mitchum at Cathy.mitchum@ssa.gov or Mission Chair Dan Woodle at dewisu73@sbcglobal.net.
