Welcome to the season of Advent at Union Church of Hinsdale. Here’s how we’re celebrating
this year – we hope you will join us for one, some, or all!

Advent Sermon Series: Close to Home

When: Every Sunday during the “Faithful by the Fireside” family-focused service outdoors in the
Close at 9:07am and the indoor (masked) general worship service in the Sanctuary at 10am.
What: Together we’ll explore what it means to be close to home physically, emotionally, and
spiritually. Please note: While children are always welcome to experience worship with us,
Sunday school and nursery care are also available during the 10am general worship service!

Hinsdale Christmas Walk

When: Friday, December 3, 5-8pm
What: As the village of Hinsdale celebrates their annual Christmas Walk tradition, we invite you
to stop by our Gathering Space to warm up or enjoy “chestnuts roasting on an open fire”
outdoors in the Close.

Rudolph’s Boutique

When: Saturday, December 4, 9am-12pm
What: Children through 5th grade can shop for gifts for family, friends, + pets!
All gifts are wrapped and tagged. Gifts average $2 a piece. Middle School and Youth will help
your little shoppers while parents enjoy some coffee. This way you are surprised with your gift
on Christmas morning, much to your child’s delight!

Christmas Music Sunday

When: Sunday, December 5 during the 10am general worship service in the Sanctuary (masks
What: A annual fan favorite at Union! Together, we celebrate through sound and song,
featuring: “How Great Our Joy” and Children’s Chimes.

Christmas Caroling

When: Wednesday, December 8, 4:45pm
What: All are welcome to join our Gather + Grow Youth Group for this festive fun! Meet in the
Gathering Space at 4:45pm.

Children’s Christmas Pageant

When: Sunday, December 19 during the 10am general worship service in the Sanctuary (masks
What: Our Christmas Pageant is one of our sweetest traditions! Children ages 4 and up each
play a role in telling the Christmas Story by learning a few short lines and traditional songs. We
have 3 weekday rehearsals beginning on 12/1 and a dress rehearsal. It's a heart-warming way
to celebrate this special story with our little ones!

The Longest Night

When: Tuesday, December 21, 7pm in the Chapel (masks required)
What: Join us for this tradition of celebrating winter solstice… “the longest night” of the year
here in the Northern hemisphere.

Christmas Eve

4:30pm – Family Service online for The Nativity Story: “Hope Was
Born This Night”
5-6pm – Luminaria lighting + hot cocoa
6-6:45pm – Carols + candlelight outdoors in the Close
8pm – Christmas Eve worship service online.
