That is\, how can we have “difficult conversations” people may disagree on\, but without creating further conflict? Can we approach these issues with an open mind and be willing to learn from each other? Can we create an environment that welcomes crucial conversations on important issues that can bring us together\, rather than separate us? And\, in an era of media bias\, how do we discern the “truth” on these social issues? \nThrough techniques grounded in emotional intelligence\, and using the tools of appreciative inquiry and respectful listening\, we can learn and grow together\, rather than create division and animosity between us. \nIt has been said that through education comes understanding\, and through understanding comes tolerance\, and through tolerance comes peace. Jesus modeled for us how to manage conflict and\, as Christians\, we are called to follow his leadership in our relationships with others. \nPlease join us as Rev. Robb Kneuepfer leads us through a workshop he’s doing as part of his post graduate work\, on how we can improve our skills in dealing with conflict on social issues without damaging our relationships with others – all based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. \n

DESCRIPTION:For many of us here at Union\, the experience of wondering where our next meal is coming from or not knowing where we’re going to sleep tonight is far from reality. But\, sadly\, there’s far too many who have this experience on a regular basis. \nDuPage PADS is a local organization providing meals and shelter for our increasing homeless population. On a given day they serve over 300 people including over 100 children. DuPage PADS has worked for over 20 years to combat hunger and homelessness in DuPage County and has made great strides in improving the lives of many.\nThrough donations and local support\, PADS was able to purchase a local motel during Covid where folks can now stay until they are able to secure permanent housing. Previously they spent the night on the floor at local churches\, traveling from church to church daily\, many walking or riding bikes\, some with small children.\nThrough our financial and volunteer support they can continue to provide food and shelter to those who need it most. For the Easter Offering\, you may donate to DuPage PADS\, make a special contribution to the church\, or do both!\nYou have two easy options for giving:\n1) Give online by going to our website\, hinsdale.church\, and clicking the ‘Live Generously; Tab and click ‘Make a Contribution.’ Select “Easter Offering–PADS” (all amounts donated under this selection will be donated to DuPage PADS) or “Easter Offering – Union Church Ministries” (all amounts donated under this selection will be shared by ministries of the church generally) and complete the rest of the information.
