Dave Raske, PhD

The Disappearance of Amelia Earhart

Amelia  Earhart’s mysterious disappearance while trying to become the first woman pilot to circle the globe and the first pilot to do so at the equator has been the subject of numerous books purporting to explain her disappearance on the July 1937 flight from Lae, New Guinea to Howland Island in the Pacific. Dr. David Raske discusses the various theories and identifies  the most probable cause for the disappearance of Amelia Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan.

Dave Raske is a retired consultant to the Argonne National Laboratory, where among other things, he worked on the Air Force Space Reactor Program. He also co-authored a design guide for the NASA Apollo program and did research for the Naval Air Development Center.

Our speaker earned his PhD in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, taught engineering mechanics at IIT, the U. of I, Urbana-Champaign, and the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology

As always, a delicious $5.00 lunch will be served prior to the program. If you have not made a reservation with your caller, please make one by calling the church office, 630-323-4303 ext. 6652, no later than Monday morning, April 9, 2018.
