Lay Ministry ⦁ Training dates
We had our first informational meeting on Sunday, May 3, about Union Church starting a Lay Ministers Group. The purpose of this group is for our church members to help other church members who are going through a difficult time (i.e. loss of a loved one, getting a scary medical diagnosis, going through chemo, starting Hospice, going through a divorce, becoming empty nesters, struggling financially, job/career changes, going through a difficult time for whatever reason).
Twenty five people have expressed interest in becoming Lay Ministers. Currently, fourteen people are signed up for the “Called to Care,” U.C.C. program training sessions that are starting in June. Janet Boyd, who we have hired part-time to assist with Pastoral Care, has agreed to lead our training sessions. Janet is an Ordained U.C.C./United Church of Christ Minister. Questions about Lay Ministers, please contact Dave Bozeman, email@example.com or Melissa Barnes Mann, firstname.lastname@example.org.
