A staple of Hinsdale summer is celebrating its 20th year. Uniquely Thursday is a weekly festival with food trucks, live music and camaraderie in Burlington Park near the Memorial Building and train station in downtown Hinsdale. Stephen C Edwards, tenor and Dana Brown, piano will present a concert of the "most joyful song cycle ever written" by Gabriel Fauré, "La Bonne Chanson," Sunday, August 14 at 3:00 p.m. Additionally, Stephen will sing 7 of the 36 selections by Franz Haydn that he and Dana will be recording for the Lexicon Classics Recording Label in November. This year’s Christmas Offering will support The Boulevard of Chicago, one of the mission partners we work with throughout the year. The Boulevard provides residential care for homeless men and women in medical recovery. This 44-bed center on Chicago’s west side offers interim housing and support to ill and injured homeless adults. Residents are provided services to enable them to transition to independent living. If you’re looking to be dazzled at every turn, this is the concert for you! A concerto (pronounced con-CHAIR-toe) is a piece of music written for soloist(s) accompanied by an orchestra or other ensemble. Basically, it’s a chance for a virtuoso musician to show off what they can do while the rest of the orchestra backs them up, and this ConcertoFest! is packed with virtuoso soloists.
