Guatemala Mission Trip: First Report

On June 22, a group of 11 set out for San Juan Laguna, Guatemala on a journey to make a lasting impact. Our journey was focused on building connections, learning about the Mayan people and their rich history and creating tangible change. We set out to construct smokeless stoves and support an educational program for Mayan children.

The smokeless stoves project aimed to improve health conditions by reducing indoor air pollution, while our time at Hope and Dreams, the educational program run by our dear friend Fredy Perez, sought to empower children through knowledge and connections. Each day brought new challenges and triumphs, as we worked hand in hand with new families everyday, learning from their resilience and strength. We will be sharing a series of stories told by each trip participant that captures the essence of our community connections trip, highlighting the profound experiences, the bonds we formed, and the lasting impact on both the community and ourselves. We hope you enjoy this series and for more information on Hopes and Dreams click here or follow them on social media under Suenos_y_esperanzas_dh on instagram or Suenos y Esperanzas on Facebook.
